What's the Dependants feature?
The Dependants feature enables us to connect your dependants to your Well account, allowing you to view their health summaries, book their appointments, and order their prescriptions through the portal. The feature is designed to support carers, such as parents and guardians, in managing the healthcare of those they care for.
FAQs for carers of dependants
Q: Will I automatically be connected to my dependant's health record when I register an account on Well?
A: No. If you are a carer who would like to connect to your dependant's record, you will need to request this from us. One of our staff will then set up the connection if it is appropriate to do so.
Q: Does a dependant have to be below a certain age in order for me to connect to their record?
A: No. For dependants under 16 years, we can connect you to their record upon your request. For dependants aged 16 years and older, you would need to be your dependant's attorney through an EPOA or we would need to have your dependant's written consent before we could connect you.
Q: How long will my account be connected to my dependant's?
A: For tamariki (children) aged under 16, the connection will automatically expire upon their 16th birthday. We can also manually set an earlier expiry date. For dependants aged 16 and older, we manually select an appropriate expiry date. This date can be changed by us if need be. You will receive a notification when the connection is due to expire. When the connection has expired, you will no longer be able to access your dependant's health record.
Q: If I'm enrolled at a different medical centre, can I still connect to the record of my dependant who's enrolled at TTMC?
A: Yes. If your dependant is under 16, you will need to create an account on the app. We can then connect your account to your dependant’s record, allowing you to view and manage your dependant’s health information and interactions from the app.
Q: What health information for my dependant can I see?
A: You can view most health information for your dependant, including a health summary, appointments, prescription requests, and test results.
Q: Can multiple carers access the same dependant's record?
A: Yes. Multiple carers can be linked to the same dependant's record. You can also view who else has access to your dependant’s record from the Settings area in the app.
Q: What actions can I perform on behalf of my dependant?
A: You can view health records, book and manage appointments, and view or request repeat prescriptions from the app on behalf of your dependant.
How do I get connected to my dependant's health record?
Firstly, you need to have your own account on our patient portal Well. If you haven't registered for Well already, you can do so by visiting our TTMC login page here or by downloading the app, called Well NZ. You'll need to enter our practice code as part of the registration process, which is TMCENT.
You will then need to contact us to request that we connect you to your dependant's record. Please ensure you include your dependant's name and date of birth so we can confirm their identity. You can email us at reception@ttmc.co.nz or you can send a message to the Accounts and Admin inbox on Well.
If you're the carer of a dependant aged under 16: As long as we're sure you are the tamaiti's (child's) carer, we can go ahead and connect you.
If you're the carer of a dependant aged 16 or above: We will need to either confirm that you're the dependant's attorney through an EPOA or we will need to get the dependant's written consent before we can connect you. If you are not confirmed to be the dependant's attorney, or if the dependant does not give their written consent, we won't be able to connect you.
