Good news from Pharmac: funding has been extended for Bexsero (meningococcal B vaccine) for tamariki aged under 5 years, effective from 01 September!
This means that all tamariki can receive a full course of funded (free) Bexsero while under the age of 5 years regardless of whether they started the vaccine course within their first year or not.
Most tamariki will receive Bexsero vaccinations at 3 months, 5 months, and 12 months as part of the National Immunisation Schedule.
For those who were already older than 12 months when Bexsero was introduced to the National Immunisation Schedule, or who have missed out on Bexsero vaccination for other reasons, this funding extension means that they can still get protection against meningococcal B without cost to their whānau.
Not sure if your tamaiti under 5 has been fully vaccinated against meningococcal B or not?

We do our best to let parents/caregivers know what funded vaccines their tamariki are due for, but it can be difficult at times to keep on top of everyone.
If you're wanting to find out if your tamaiti under 5 has had their full Bexsero course or not, you can:
Call our nurse line and leave a message for the nurse, who will call you back that same day (if you call before approx. 3PM, otherwise next day)
Call reception and ask for a message to be passed on to our practice assistant to check on your tamaiti's meningococcal B vaccination status for you
