Dr Brenda Gibson unexpectedly unavailable this week

Dr Brenda Gibson has had an accident over the weekend and, while she is okay, she is unable to come in to work for at least this week.

We apologise to those we have had to reschedule this week and we appreciate your understanding. Please read on for important information about her inboxes, prescription requests, and appointments.

Dr Gibson's inboxes

We have closed off messages to Dr Gibson on the patient portal as she is unable to answer these. She is also unable to answer her emails; please do not send emails to her for the time being. If you are one of Dr Gibson's patients and have a query, please call reception or our nurse line instead. Our other doctors will be doing their best to deal with any urgent queries or concerns on behalf of Dr Gibson.

Prescription requests

Prescription requests can still be sent to Dr Gibson via the patient portal or through reception, but please expect a longer turn-around time of up to 48 hours.

Appointments this week

We have already rescheduled bookings with Dr Gibson for the first half of this week. We will be contacting patients today who are booked with her for the second half of the week to reschedule you. You will have the option of making a new time with a different GP or, if you prefer to wait, of rescheduling with Dr Gibson at a later date. However, please be aware she is already very booked up and is also going to be on leave for two weeks through the middle of July, so wait-times may be lengthy.

Appointments going forward

We are unsure yet when Dr Gibson will be able to return to work. We are hoping next week, but it may be longer. As noted above, she is also scheduled to be on leave for two weeks through the middle of July, and she is already very booked up prior to that. We therefore anticipate that she will likely have lengthy wait-times for appointments for at least July and August, if not longer.

We also already have another doctor away on leave for the next few weeks, so in general we are short on appointments.

We understand it may be frustrating if we are unable to see you as soon as you would like, or if our staff have to recommend that you use Practice Plus or visit After Hours for urgent concerns. But we would ask that you please be respectful to our nurses and receptionists, as this is out of their hands and we simply don't have the capacity to meet demand right now.

Ngā mihi nui.
